‘He’s Getting Complacent’: Edema Fuludu Warns Nwabali to Step Up Before World Cup Playoffs

Former Nigeria international Edema Fuludu has issued a stern warning to Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, claiming that the shot-stopper’s recent performances show signs of complacency ahead of Nigeria’s crucial World Cup playoff games.

Fuludu expressed concern that Nwabali’s recent displays have lacked the sharpness and focus that made him a fan favourite during the AFCON tournament earlier in the year.

“Nwabali has been brilliant for Nigeria, but lately, he looks too relaxed,” Fuludu said. “This is not the time to get comfortable. Those close to him should remind him that consistency is what keeps you at the top.”

The former midfielder stressed that the upcoming playoff fixtures will demand maximum concentration from the entire team — especially the man between the posts.

“We can’t afford mistakes at this stage,” he added. “Goalkeeping errors can end a World Cup dream in seconds.”

Fuludu also urged the technical crew to ensure proper communication and tactical understanding within the defence line, warning that overconfidence could cost Nigeria dearly.

“It’s about discipline, focus, and humility,” he said. “Nwabali has the talent, but he must prove again that he’s reliable when it matters most.”
