He added that the feeders’ squad, which recently produced four players for the Nigerian women’s youth national teams, will ensure a continuous flow of talent for the senior outfit as well as produce talents that other clubs can buy.

Onyeocha disclosed, “When I came into office, I decided to start a feeder team for Heartland Queens. This is the first time such would happen in the history of Imo State.

“Young female players will be groomed in the feeder team, and those of them who are good enough will be promoted to the main team. Other teams can also come for them in the transfer period.”

The amiable commissioner, who is barely two years in office but already creating waves in the sports sector, revealed steps taken so far to make the players comfortable and give them the best support for the glory of Imo State.

“We secured a hostel for them and renovated the place. They are young girls and need to be taken care of specially. We need to make them happy, and I am happy that some of them have been invited to the junior national teams.

“All of this shows that we are really trying very much to promote youth football in Imo State. We are trying our best, and we’ll continue to do so with all our strength,” Onyeocha pledged.
