The coach and management board of Heart Of Lions Football Academy of Igando, Lagos are currently looking at a sponsorship proposal offered them by a former player based in Belgium.
Sports247 gathered that the proposal, which was on Saturday extended to coach of the youth development outfit, Afeez Oladimeji, will accord him a monthly salary among other goodies that would be granted the team.

The ex-player (name withheld) is already running a similar project in Ikorodu area of Lagos State but wants to move closer to the metropolis in order to have a more viable, centralised and impactful presence in youth football development.
It was also further learnt that the potential sponsor, who responded to a clarion call issued through this medium last week by Coach Afeez, is also ready to help the academy rent an apartment that will serve as camp base for the team.
However, the team’s current name will be either completely changed or adjusted to suit the incoming sponsor’s identity and preferred branded tag, which would be in line with corporate benefits of the deal.
The change of name appears to be the only thorny issue in the offer, which also includes full payment of fees charged for the use of the Local Government Primary School pitch, off Igando-Ikotun Road, where of the academy currently trains three times a week.
Coach Afeez admitted, “The only problem we have with this offer is that they want us to change our name. Apart from that, every other thing about it is very good.
“They are even talking about taking our team for tours at home and abroad, while agents from Europe may also visit us once in a while.
“It’s a good offer, but we won’t rush into a decision. We also have some friends abroad who will help us check it out. We’ll put heads together and give them an answer this week.”
