Sports247 gathered that the seminar, which began on Monday, with an extension into Tuesday, has several coaches in attendance, backed with transport subsidies from the various local governments where their teams are based.
Following his presence on the first day of the latest gathering of coaches, referees and administrators under the banner of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Afeez, who was a defensive midfielder during his days in Benin Republic, said he has gained new ideas to help develop all the kids in his academy better.
Afeez, who also played as an attacker at Future Stas FC before moving to Ogbomosho United and later had a stint at Remo Stars, added that he hopes to use all ideas gained from the seminar to further promote his academy.
While pointing out that the academy started in 2023, Afeez disclosed that he already has many promising kids in the team; among whom are Okikiola Akinpelu, Arolagbade Mohammed and the squad’s captain, Emmanuel Miracle.
The mentor, who is fondly called ‘Coach Nigeria,’ added: “We have squads for under-8, under-10, under-13, under-17 and senior boys. My target is to elevate them higher than the level of football that I was able to reach as a player.
“We have featured in various competitions, and we are already playing in another one at Egan High School. We will also start a competition this weekend at Sansan Field near Igando.
I’m sure the new ideas that I get from the seminar in Surulere will help me to win those two trophies this month.”
