Handball: South East Zonal Elimination Game Set To Begin 12-14 August In Enugu

The South East zonal handball elimination playoffs have been scheduled to kick off from 12th to 14th August 2023, starting from tomorrow as it is set to take center stage at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

The Enugu State handball players both male and female had their NIN registration on Thursday as 30 athletes were successfully registered, making it the only team in the state to register in both categories.

They moved into close camp immediately and were closely followed by a training session this morning where they trained on football playing inside her Handball Court at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium which will host four other handball teams from the South East.

According to the state handball Coach, Christian Chigbo who is hopeful that they will qualify for the National Youth Games in Delta 2023 allayed that players in both the male and female categories are confident about how they are going to achieve their goal to qualify.

The Assistant Coach, Emeka Idoko said, “We are hosting South East Zonal Elimination Game to win (qualify) and probably go to Asaba come September to win laurels.”

“The Chairman, of Enugu State Handball Association, deserves a pat on the back as the lads promised to win for him as a birthday gift later this year and also to show appreciation for all he has done for us and strongly believing in the team,” he added.

Enugu State handball for the biennial championship had been in close in Nsukka for one week before coming down to Enugu.

They have now returned to camp while arrival and screening are billed for this afternoon as well as Team Anambra, who have arrived in Enugu for the handball elimination playoffs.
