President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, on Monday formally assumed duty at the WAFU Zone B secretariat in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, signaling a new chapter for West African football.

Gusau, who arrived in the Ivorian capital after attending the President Federation Cup final in Lagos—where Kwara United claimed victory—was warmly welcomed by staff of the regional football body.

Speaking during his official takeover, Gusau pledged to elevate the standard of football in the region, promising to invest in grassroots development, expand youth competitions, and build stronger ties among member nations.

The NFF boss also outlined plans to attract private-sector investment to drive the growth of the game across West Africa, stating that his administration would work tirelessly to unlock the zone’s full football potential.

His leadership marks Nigeria’s return to the top of WAFU Zone B after more than a decade and is expected to bring renewed focus and energy to football administration in one of Africa’s most talent-rich regions.
