Gusau Dismisses Super Falcons Neglect Claims, Reaffirms NFF’s Commitment Ahead of WAFCON

In response to allegations suggesting the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has sidelined the Super Falcons, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has firmly denied such claims, emphasizing the federation’s unwavering support for the team as they prepare for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, Sports247 reports.

Gusau highlighted the organization of high-profile friendly matches, including today’s game against Cameroon and an upcoming fixture against Portugal, as evidence of the NFF’s dedication to the team’s preparation.

“We promise Nigeria that anytime we have an international window, we’ll try and see how we can organize a grade-A match,” Gusau stated, underscoring the importance of these matches in blending experienced players with emerging talents .

Further demonstrating the federation’s commitment, Gusau pointed to recent enhancements in the team’s backroom staff, aimed at bolstering the Super Falcons’ performance.

He also announced plans for early camping sessions, ensuring the team has ample time to prepare and strategize ahead of the tournament .

Addressing the broader scope of women’s football in Nigeria, Gusau revealed initiatives to integrate home-based players into the national team framework.

“We want to start grooming some of our young girls in the league for the Super Falcons,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of domestic talent development .

Gusau also highlighted the positive impact of the Super Falcons’ recent performances on attracting corporate sponsorships.

“Now they see there is potential in women football and they have started listening to us to bring in more money to develop women football,” he remarked, indicating a growing interest from corporate organizations in supporting the team .

With these concerted efforts, the NFF aims to provide the Super Falcons with the necessary resources and support to reclaim their dominance in African women’s football at the forthcoming WAFCON.
