Gusau Confident Super Eagles Will Triumph in Playoffs: “We Have What It Takes”

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has expressed strong confidence that the Super Eagles possess the quality and determination needed to win their World Cup playoff fixtures scheduled to take place next month in Morocco.

Speaking to reporters, Gusau emphasized that the players understand what it means to represent Nigeria on the world stage and are fully aware of the magnitude of qualifying for the World Cup.

He noted that the team’s performances in their last two matches demonstrated hunger, unity, and renewed focus.

“The players have shown great zeal and awareness of what’s at stake,” Gusau said. “They know how important it is for Nigeria to be at the World Cup, and I am confident that with their mindset and commitment, we will make it.”

The NFF boss further revealed that the federation is receiving full support from the Federal Government to ensure smooth preparations ahead of the playoffs.

He praised the collaboration between the Ministry of Sports and the Federation, noting that logistics, welfare, and other technical areas are being adequately taken care of.

“We are grateful for the government’s continuous backing,” he added. “Our preparations are on course, and by God’s grace, everything will work out well. The team has the potential, and now it’s about staying focused and finishing strong.”

Gusau’s confidence reflects a growing optimism within the NFF, as Nigeria aims to secure one of Africa’s spots at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
