Grief in the Air: SSA to the President, Hon. Adeboye Mourns Sister’s Death After Losing Two Brothers Within a Month

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Anthony Adeboye Adeyinka (popularly known as Zulu Authority), is once again engulfed in sorrow following the death of his beloved sister, Mrs. Abiola Bamgboye, who passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the age of 61.

This devastating loss marks the third death in the space of one month for the respected presidential aide, who also recently lost two of his younger brothers, compounding a season of personal grief for the prominent grassroots sports advocate.

Family sources confirmed that Mrs. Bamgboye, a mother, mentor, and pillar within the family, passed after a brief illness. She was described as deeply supportive of her brother’s career and a quiet backbone behind many of his community-driven projects.

“She was more than a sister — she was a second mother,” Hon. Adeboye shared in a solemn statement. “Losing her just weeks after my brothers feels like an emotional earthquake. But I hold firmly to faith, and I thank God for the lives they lived.”

The heartbreaking news has sent waves of condolences across the nation’s sporting and political circles, where Hon. Adeboye is admired not only for his passion for youth development but for his resilient leadership and humility in public service.

Despite these heavy personal losses, Hon. Adeboye has remained committed to his national responsibilities. Just days before his sister’s passing, he was actively coordinating key youth sports initiatives and attending high-level diplomatic and sporting engagements.

Colleagues, friends, and public figures have expressed their sympathy and admiration for his strength and courage during this difficult period.

“It is not easy to carry national duties while facing deep personal loss. Hon. Adeboye’s composure is a testament to his character and dedication to the country,” said one government official.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Abiola Bamgboye will be announced by the family in due course.

As Nigeria celebrates victories on the sports stage—from the Super Falcons’ WAFCON heroics to D’Tigress’ fifth AfroBasket title—many are reminded of the human stories behind the leaders who work behind the scenes.

Hon. Adeboye’s journey is now not only one of service but also of strength in sorrow.

May the souls of the dearly departed rest in perfect peace.
