In a remarkable display of talent and sportsmanship, Greensprings School in Lagos
emerged as the overall champions at the recently concluded Private School Games,
featuring U-11 pupils from various private schools in Lagos.
Greensprings School’s impressive performance secured them a total of 11 gold medals, six silver medals, and six bronze medals across multiple sporting disciplines, including football, athletics, swimming, and video games.
The Managing Director and CEO of School Games, Adeyemi Egbeoluwa, expressed his
excitement and commended the participating private schools for demonstrating discipline
and camaraderie throughout the competition.
The event took place at different venues, including the Union Bank sports ground, National Stadium, O’Jez swimming pool in Lagos, and Yabatech play ground.
Egbeoluwa described the Private School Games as a resounding success and revealed
plans for an even more captivating U-16 version of the games, scheduled to take place in
the upcoming weeks.
He emphasized the importance of supporting private school sports programs, stating that the combination of quality education and sports nurtures exceptional athletes and eliminates concerns regarding age cheating and underwhelming performances in international competitions.
The School Games initiative aims to continuously identify and nurture hidden talents through their programs, and Egbeoluwa reiterated the organization’s commitment to this cause, emphasizing that there is no turning back.
Notable private schools such as Greensprings, Corona, Riverbank, Lagos Preparatory
School, and St Saviour’s were acknowledged as being ready for the forthcoming U-16
Private Secondary Schools Games.
The outstanding achievements of Greensprings School and the overall success of the
