Grassroots Sports Development: Ika Youth League To Start In September

Coaches of Grassroots Clubs and Academies in Agbor have come together to organize a Youth League for the development of Football in Ika Region. The Revelation was made after a meeting was held by the coaches at Gbenoba Grammar School Sports Ground.

Dr. Ken Gadaffi, Director of KG Sports Academy convened the meeting for the coaches to come together and organize the League. “We are looking forward to the return of Sporting Activities following the lockdown due to the COVID 19 pandemic and this would be a good opportunity for the players and teams to get back to playing ways again after a long break” Dr. Gadaffi Stated.

Six Clubs have so far indicated interest to take part in the Youth League. KG Sports Academy, Ihuyase FC, Big Daddy FC, Arewa United FC, Unity FC, and Golden Boys FC. More teams from Umunede, Abavo, and Agbor are expected to join.

The League will be Called IKA YOUTH LEAGUE and the champions at the end of the season will receive a Trophy. Presently there are no sponsors for the league and Clubs will have to fund the operation budget though a League Management Committee.

Dr. Ken Gadaffi was Appointed the Patron of the IKA Youth League while Mr. Ibrahim Musa of KG Sports Academy was appointed as the Coordinator, Mr. Godwin Wisdom of Ihuyase FC Assistant Coordinator and Mr. Mathew Alumona the Organizing Secretary.

“This League will provide the Youths in Ika the chance to showcase their talents and get scouted by top teams. Most of them have been playing together for some time but no one to discover them. so hopefully a league of this nature could further help expose the talents that abound in Ika” Dr. Ken Gadaffi said
