National coordinator of the Grappling Athletes Development Initiative (GADI) in Nigeria, Olusesan Olukoya has disclosed that plans have been set in motion towards ensuring a successful hosting of a seminar among stakeholders for the sport from across Africa next year in Lagos.
Sports247 reports that Olukoya is beaming with satisfaction, following confirmation of Lagos as the venue for the 2027 African Grappling Federations Seminar/Workshop, which he said marks an opportunity for Nigeria to contribute to the further development of the discipline.
This comes after the International Grappling Federation (IGF) stated that the seminar/workshop will bring together African administrators, coaches, officials, athletes and other stakeholders to deliberate on development, standardisation and expansion of the sport across the continent.
The world body also acknowledged the commitment and contributions of Grappling Athletes Development Initiative to the continuous development of the sport and identified Nigeria as an appropriate venue for next year’s continental gathering.
Olukoya expressed confidence that the partnership of IGF with GADI will result in a successful seminar/workshop and further contribute to the enhanced growth and development of grappling across Africa.
Sports247 also gathered that the 2027 confab is expected to serve as a strong platform for African grappling stakeholders to exchange ideas, strengthen collaboration and advance the discipline’s development on the continent.
