GOVERNOR’S AND OBA’S CUPS RETURN AS ONDO FA SETS UP COMMITTEE FOR 2020 COMPETITIONS

Arrangements have been concluded by the Ondo State Football Association to revive the once popular Governor’s Cup following the setting up of a committee to work out the modalities to organise the Competition.

The Committee is also expected to bring back to life the Oba’s Cup which once served as a platform for discovering talents from the grassroots while the task of the committee also include organizing a bigger and better FA Cup for the year 2020.

In preparation for the Southwest Under Age Competition the committee was also mandated to ensure a proper selection process for the state to have Under 13 and 15 teams that will fly Ondo State colours at the Southwest tournament.

The Charles Ogunyanmodi-led Committee had since been inaugurated and swung into action after having their inaugural meeting where they drew up plans to carry out the tasks at hand.

According to the acting FA Chairman Pastor Henry Akingboju the committee has been properly briefed on what to do to give football a busy schedule at the state level for the year 2020 and beyond.

“During the inauguration of the committee they were fully briefed on how we want to bring back to life the Governor’s Cup and the Oba’s Cup while we equally want a bigger FA Cup competition this year so with the wealth of experience of members of the committee we believe they can deliver”

Henry Akingboju equally mentioned that the attention of the committee was drawn to the fact that the State needs to present solid teams for the Southwest Under age competition so it is also the duty of the committee to map out a plan to produce the teams that will represent the state.

“Don’t forget that the annual Southwest under age competition is also around the corner therefore the committee were also saddled with the task of mapping out plans to produce solid under 13 and 15 teams to represent Ondo State at the competition”

It would be recalled that the Ondo FA Chairman Otunba Dele Ajayi had earlier tasked the board to put together a committee that will ensure that football activities gets a busy schedule at the state level in the new year.
