Government Must Reconsider Decision On The Reopening Of Contact Sports – Nwagu

The President of G-Innovation Football Club, Lagos, Edwin Chigozie Nwagu, has expressed his dismay over the inconsistency of the Federal Government decisions on the reopening of sporting activities, particularly, football and other contacts sports.

The youthful club owner was particularly irked with the recent announcement by the Presidential Task Force (PTF), to halt the return of contact sports in the country, citing the disturbing reports on Covid-19 in most parts of the country as a reason.

” This announcement to stop the reopening of sports is highly disturbing and discouraging. The joys of millions of sportspeople, particularly, footballers to return to the pitches in furtherance of their careers, have been short-lived by the painful decision of the government to stop the reopening or return of contact sports,” Nwagu lamented.

” I wonder why the government have become inconsistent with its decisions. Sports in most countries in Africa and other parts of the world have restarted,” he remarked.

Nwagu, a renowned grassroots football promoter, and philanthropist, however, praised the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare on his overall performances in the sports sector. He was also quick to admonish Dare to work harder to ensure that football and other contact sports, make a quick return.
