Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest defender, Ola Aina, has addressed a social media storm after a video surfaced showing him claiming to be in a “talking stage” with another footballer’s girlfriend.
The now-viral clip was taken from Channel 4.0’s entertainment programme, Savage Kids & Agony Aunties, where Aina appeared in a light-hearted segment. In the video, he narrated a supposed “dilemma,” saying he had unknowingly been chatting with a colleague’s girlfriend for weeks.
The revelation left the show’s panellists stunned, especially when Aina jokingly said he could “easily” beat the mystery footballer in a one-on-one challenge.
Despite the playful tone of the show, the clip quickly ignited debates across social media platforms, prompting Aina to issue a clarification.
In a statement shared on his Snapchat story, Aina distanced himself from the storyline portrayed on the programme.
“To everyone that’s wondering, I want to be clear about something,” he wrote. “The show that is circulating was entirely scripted and created for entertainment.
The storyline does not reflect my life, my relationships, or anyone connected to me. It is not rooted in reality in any way.”
Aina noted that short clips often get misinterpreted online and urged fans to view the content for what it truly was—entertainment.
“I understand that clips can take on a life of their own, especially online, but I hope people can recognise this for what it is: just some content,” he added. “I take pride in who I am on and off the pitch, and I would never disrespect anyone like that.”
With the clarification, Aina hopes to put an end to the speculation and refocus attention on his professional and personal values.
