Checks by Sports247 across various social media platforms and WhatsApp groups revealed several comments that highlight different angles about the coach’s plight.

The common refrain among former players, ex-internationals and scouts suggests that privacy is needed at this point in time, as Esu might feel embarrassed with how photographs of his very pitiable state are being splashed for the public to view.

On the other hand, a lot of coaches, officials and football promoters believe the ailing tactician needs financial support, which can best be acquired through a repeated presentation of his case in public domains.

A post by Uni Dan Kakwi noted in part, “Reports from the Eti-Osa Football Coaches Council confirm that veteran coach, Godfrey Esu is currently paralysed and receiving medical treatment in the hospital.

“Coach Esu has devoted his life to the growth of Nigerian football, mentoring young players, guiding fellow coaches, and shaping countless careers with passion, discipline, and fatherly care.

“Today, the man who stood strong for so many now needs the world to stand strong for him. In times like this, football must show its true spirit: unity, compassion, and love.

“We kindly ask everyone to keep Coach Godfrey Esu in your prayers and support his medical journey in any way you can. Every prayer, every message, every contribution counts. May God grant Coach Godfrey Esu healing, strength, and a speedy recovery.”
