Speaking against the backdrop of the highly successful two-day Goals For Girls Leadership Summit at The Stable Sports Complex, Bode Thomas Road, Surulere, Lagos, Ogunbote said working round the clock creates a better impact.

The law graduate, who previously coached in China, then returned to England as head of football at Burnley FC, added that Nigeria has to get more involved in youth development activities.

Ogunbote further revealed in an exclusive interview with Sports247 that the recent programme at Surulere had a huge impact on 300 junior secondary students spread equally across two days from 20 different schools in the area, then affirmed it is a continuous process.

“This is the next generation for us in Nigeria and it’s important that we invest in them early. We have to give them the tools so they can also lead when they get of age.

“We need them to keep the circle going. That’s why we have to keep investing in young people. We must keep on training them,” Ogunbote reiterated.

The coach, instructor, leadership trainer, mentor and motivational speaker, who is not related to renowned tactician, Gbenga Ogunbote, added details of her developmental strategy.

“We work in the schools throughout the year. My coaches go into variousv schools on a weekly basis and deliver training sessions.

“They do this alongside the schools’ academic time tables in the form of co-curricular activities. We also invite teachers who are supporting our programmes.

“We invite them to join us and their students in our programmes so that they can also see what we are doing and they can understand how the process works,” Ogunbote expatiated.
