‘Give Chelle What He Wants!’ Sunday Mba Backs Coach’s Demands

Former Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Mba has urged the Nigeria Football Federation to meet the demands of Eric Chelle, insisting the coach has earned the right to continue his work with the national team.

Mba, who famously scored Nigeria’s winning goal in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final, said Chelle’s achievements since taking charge of the Nigeria national football team show that he deserves the full backing of the football authorities.

“Coach Chelle has already shown what he can do with the team,” Mba said.

The former midfielder noted that the coach has built a strong foundation within the squad and should therefore be allowed to continue his project without disruption.

“He has a track record with the team and should be given the opportunity to continue his work,” he added.

According to Mba, stability in the coaching department is crucial if Nigeria hopes to achieve success in future competitions.

“Continuity is very important for the growth of the team,” he explained.

The former international believes Chelle’s demands should be viewed as part of a professional process between the coach and the football federation.

“If he has demands, the federation should look at them seriously,” he stated.

Mba also warned that frequently changing coaches has often hindered the development of the Super Eagles in the past.

“Nigeria has made mistakes before by changing coaches too quickly,” he said.

With the national team currently undergoing a rebuilding process, Mba insists maintaining stability could be key to long-term success.

“If we want progress, we must allow the coach to finish what he started,” he concluded.

The debate surrounding Chelle’s future continues to generate discussion among former players and football stakeholders across Nigeria.
