Ghana, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire Will Give Super Falcons Good Preparation For WAFCON – Sanusi

Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons, will gain immensely from participating alongside Ghana, Senegal and hosts Cote d’Ivoire in a four-nation regional competition next month, Sports247 reports.

This assertion was given by the secretary-general of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who added that it will be an ideal build-up to put the Falcons in shape for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The four-nation contest will take place in Abidjan from February 27th to March 7th as a precursor to WAFCON 2026, which is scheduled to hold in Morocco from March 17th to April 3rd, and Sanusi believes the Falcons will excel in both competitions.

“They will play Ghana, Senegal, and Cote d’Ivoire, the host country in a four-nation competition. After that, they will move to Morocco to acclimatise and settle down for the WAFCON.

“The essence of the four-nation competition is to serve as a camping ground and preparation point for the team. Those other countries are very good as far as women’s football is concerned,” the NFF’s scribe pointed out.

He also expressed hope that the Falcons will go on to win a record extending 11th African title at this year’s WAFCON, which will also serve as qualifiers for the World Cup.

Sports247 reports further that all four semi-finalists at this year’s WAFCON in Morocco will qualify to play at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
