Gbagada FC Manager, Olajide Akinyelu, conveyed his disappointment with the team’s performance in a recent match against Dannaz FC, which concluded in a 2-2 draw.

In a post-match interview, Akinyelu expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “A point at home, not good enough for me. The performance was actually flat.”

Akinyelu candidly assessed the match, acknowledging that they faced one of the weaker sides in the league and had anticipated securing a more favourable result.

“Truth be told, we played one of the weakest sides in the league, and I was hoping that we had enough to at least get two points from this. A 2-2 draw at home is a disappointing result for me,” he remarked.

Looking ahead to the next match against Iganmu Tigers, another team struggling with form, Akinyelu shared his optimism about key players returning to the squad.

He mentioned, “The likes of Billy, Wasiu, Seyi, Omolaja—they will all be back fully with us, and hopefully, we have a bigger squad for that match to select from.

I think their quality will definitely add to our performance in terms of positive attacking play, and we should be able to get that second win we have been looking for.”

Discussing the standout performance of Semiu Fagba, who has scored four goals in eight games this season, Akinyelu expressed his satisfaction.

However, he highlighted the need to improve Fagba’s fitness level for consistent full-match contributions.

Akinyelu emphasized, “We need to work on his fitness level so that he can be on the pitch for 90 minutes. If he was able to stay on throughout the match, maybe he would have gotten a hat trick for himself.

So, he still needs to work on his fitness level, and we’ll keep working with him to bring out the best.”
