Gateway United Players, Officials Undergo COVID-19 Test Ahead of Friday’s Cometh Trip

Players and technical officials of Gateway United FC have undergone the Covid-19 test as part of the requirements for the commencement of the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League campaign.

The test was carried out today Monday 25th January 2021 at the club secretariat, MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta ahead of the first match which has now been moved to Friday 29th January 2021 in Lagos.

The results are expected tomorrow Tuesday 26th January 2021.

Speaking on the exercise, the Acting General Manager Niyi Soleye described it as a pivotal test for the smooth running of the fast-approaching league.

“It went well, all players and officials have been tested. We expect the result tomorrow Tuesday. We will continue our preparation in line with the Covid-19 protocols”.

“We appreciate the state government for this timely test. The requirement to test all players and officials is a good one. I believe that every other team will follow suit so that the atmosphere will be safe for us all to have a hitch-free season.” He concluded.

However, the team manager, Dare Osunsanya said the change in date is immaterial to the readiness of the team to hit the ground running.

Joy Cometh will host Gateway United in matchday one at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos on Friday 29th January 2021.
