In a major morale boost for Ogun State athletes ahead of the Gateway Games 2024, Governor Dapo Abiodun has unveiled a comprehensive cash reward scheme to recognize and motivate participants and medalists representing the state.
According to a statement released on Saturday Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting excellence through tangible support for young talents.

He disclosed that every athlete currently in camp and officially accredited to represent Ogun State will receive a ₦50,000 reward within 24 hours, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
“We are proud of every athlete who has qualified to wear the Ogun State colours. They are the best of the best, and we will not let their dedication go unnoticed,” the Governor stated.
In addition to the participation stipend, the governor announced substantial cash rewards for medal-winning athletes:
The Gold medalists will go away with ₦2.5 million each and Silver medalists will receive ₦1.5 million each while Bronze medalists will be rewarded with ₦1 million each
Governor Abiodun emphasized that his administration is guided by principles of integrity and fulfillment of promises, especially in initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and talent development.
The announcement has sparked enthusiasm within the state’s sports community and is widely expected to serve as a powerful incentive for Team Ogun athletes to deliver exceptional performances at the upcoming national festival.
