Osimhen sustained the injury during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool, prompting immediate medical intervention.

The procedure was carried out in Istanbul by club doctor Yener İnce, who confirmed that a plate was inserted into the player’s arm before it was placed in a splint.

Despite the setback, the Super Eagles forward struck an optimistic tone in his first words after surgery, telling club officials: “We will be champions, my president.” His message was directed at club president Dursun Özbek, who reassured supporters that the striker is recovering well.

“Osimhen is perfectly healthy. He underwent a very successful surgery. God willing, he will return to the field as soon as possible,” Özbek said.

Medical staff also confirmed that the 25-year-old will be closely monitored throughout his recovery, with regular updates expected from the club.

Osimhen is projected to be out for approximately five weeks, ruling him out of key league fixtures, including matches against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, Kocaelispor and Gençlerbirliği.

However, there is cautious optimism that he could return in time for the crucial derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26.

His absence comes at a critical stage of the title race, with Galatasaray currently holding a slim four-point lead over their Istanbul rivals.

Osimhen has been instrumental this season, registering 19 goals across all competitions.

Manager Okan Buruk will now look to experienced attackers like Mauro Icardi and Leroy Sané to maintain the team’s attacking momentum during the striker’s absence.

With the title race finely poised, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether Galatasaray can hold on long enough for their talisman’s return.
