The match turned on Osho’s dismissal late in the first half, a moment that left Cardiff with ten men and significantly altered the balance of the contest.
Up until that point, the visitors had remained competitive, but the red card handed Wycombe a numerical advantage that proved decisive as the game wore on.
Despite Cardiff’s resilience after the break, Wycombe gradually asserted control, patiently probing for an opening against a stretched and fatigued opposition.
Their breakthrough eventually came in the 79th minute, when André Vidigal found the back of the net following a well-worked move assisted by Aaron Morley.
With Cardiff forced to push forward in search of an equaliser, gaps began to appear at the back. The hosts capitalised once again just five minutes later, as Cauley Woodrow calmly finished to double Wycombe’s lead and put the result beyond doubt.
The defeat represents a significant setback for Cardiff in their pursuit of the league summit. They missed an opportunity to reduce the gap on leaders Lincoln City FC, who remain five points clear after Matchday 38.
For Osho, the night will be remembered as a costly one, with his sending-off ultimately shaping the outcome of a fixture that carried major implications in the title race.
Cardiff must now regroup quickly as they look to keep their promotion hopes alive in the closing stages of the season.
