Gabe’s Return Lifts Taiwan Beer, Records First Win In Interleague Tournament

Humphrey “Gabe” Gabriel’s return from Japan to join his Taiwan Beer’s side in the Interleague tournament was timely as the Nigerian inspired the team to a 95-81 win over Changhwa BLL on Wednesday.

Gabe came off the bench to post a 13 pts, 6 Reb and 3aasst performance to give Taiwan Beer their first win in the series.

Gabe was rested from the starting line up following his recent return from Japan with the Taiwan Beer Leopards and Changhwa BLL took advantage of his absence to open a 22-19 lead on the first quarter.

Coach threw in his Talisman in the second quarter and Taiwan Beer were unstoppable as they scored 30-12 points to end the first quarter in front by 15 points.

Coach Hao retired Gabe to the bench again in the third quarter and Changhwa BLL made it a fight as they caught the lead down in the 3rd Quarter but the Nigerian returned in the 4th Quarter to fire on the Taiwan beer to victory winning 95-81.

“It was a great win for us, we wanted to revenge the losses we suffered in this tournament last year and getting the first win was important for us” Gabe said.

“Tomorrow will be tougher but with this win now we are motivated and will be ready to go for it” he added

Taiwan Beer will take on. NCCU (Chengchi University) on Thursday before facing off with Dreamer Pilot Team on Friday.

The Interleague Tournament involves 7 teams from across the 3 tiers of Taiwan Basketball.
