Sodje believes the inclusion of new players alongside established names is a positive step for the national team.
“It’s always a good thing to have new players mixing with the regulars,” he said.
According to the former Brentford defender, the friendlies provide a valuable opportunity for fresh faces to prove themselves and stake a claim for regular selection.
“It gives them a chance to impress and become part of the team,” he added.
Sodje also downplayed the absence of key striker Victor Osimhen, insisting it should not be seen as a major concern.
“His absence is not a big deal,” he noted.
He explained that missing players create opportunities for others to step up and show their quality to the coaching crew.
Sodje emphasized that such situations are essential for building squad depth and competition within the team.
“Other players now have the chance to impress the coach,” he said.
The former defender concluded by stating that friendly matches are the ideal platform for experimentation, allowing the technical crew to assess new options and strengthen the squad ahead of future competitions.
