French club release Nigerian striker

French side Guingamp has released former Super Falcon Striker and captain Desire Oparanozie as she failed to renew her contract after it expired at the end of 2019/2020 season thus ending a six-year romance with the club.

The French Club released Nigeria forward, alongside five other teammates Manon Toti, Juliette Merle, Ekaterina Tyryshkina and Carlin Hudson as the team prepares for the 2020/2021 season according to a statement on the club’s website.

Oparanizie scored six goals in the 10 games played before the rest season was halted in March due to the outbreak of the virus before the season was cancelled late year.

Nigeria forward joined Guingamp from Turkish women’s top-flight side Ataşehir Belediyespor in the summer of 2015 and since she established herself as an integral member of the team scoring 45 goals in 106 appearances.

The former Bayelsa Queens was captain of the Super Falcons to the last Women FIFA World cup in France but have since been stripped of her captaincy after the departure of coach Thomas Dennerby, the man that led the Super falcons to the World Cup in France.
