Four Enugu para-athletes get national call up for Olympics qualifier, says coach

Silver Ezeikpe, the South-East representative in the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), has confirmed the call up of four para-athletes from Enugu, for camping in Dubai ahead of the Olympic qualifiers.

Ezeikpe, who doubles as the coach of Enugu Para-Athletes, made the confirmation of their invitation in an interview in Enugu on Tuesday.

Ezeikpe said that the four athletes were selected after the just-concluded five-day national trials held in Abuja, between Jan. 14 and Jan. 19.

The coach said that himself, Chukwuebuka Orji, Onyinye Ogbu and Ekene Ene were selected for the championship in Dubai which would also serve as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Japan.

He said that the national camp for the Dubai championship and Olympic qualifiers would open on Feb. 20 to end on March 9.

”The Dubai championship will start on March 10th to 18th,” he said.
