Former Super Eagles Coach, Ambassador Fanny Amun, Weighs In On Super Eagles Coaching Vacancy

Former coach of the national team, Ambassador Fanny Amun, has expressed a neutral stance regarding the ongoing debate about who should take over as the coach of the Super Eagles.

The position became vacant following the departure of Jose Peseiro. Amun emphasized that the decision lies with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and it is their responsibility to choose a candidate who meets the set requirements to lead the Super Eagles.

In a recent speech addressing the issue, Amun stressed that the responsibility should be left to the NFF to decide who they think meets the set requirements to lead the Super Eagles, as it is their job to ensure that.

He indicated that the decision-making process should be free from external interference and based solely on the federation’s assessment of the candidates.

“Depends on what they want to do. I am not in charge. Those who are in charge should be allowed to do their job. That is their choice if they say a white man, blue man, or anybody.

If they say their coaches did not coach abroad, didn’t they coach in Tanzania and other places? So, that’s the way I see it.

It’s their job, their prerogative and permanent responsibility, the Federation and the board,” Ambassador Amun stated.

Amun highlighted the diversity of choices, whether a white man, blue man, or any other, and suggested that the NFF should be trusted to make the decision based on their understanding of the team’s needs.

He pointed out that coaches selected by the NFF have had experiences coaching abroad, citing examples such as coaching in Tanzania and other places.

Amun advocates for trust in the NFF’s decision-making process, acknowledging that the selection of the next Super Eagles coach is within their purview, and their choice should be respected.
