The veteran journalist, Wilson Bako who had served as ex-officio of the NUJ, National body, and North Central Zonal Secretary, gave the commendation when he paid an unannounced visit to the Permanent Secretary at his office in Lafia on Wednesday.

“It’s just a visit of a friend to a friend and we have been friends all along.

“When I heard of his appointment as the Permanent Secretary and later posted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, I knew that a round peg had been fixed in a round hole because I know he would turn around the fortunes of youth and sports in the State.

“More so, after seeing how he administered the State-owned football club, Nasarawa United, honestly I believe the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is the luckiest Ministry in the State, bearing in mind that somebody who can do it the way people would love it is now occupying the space.

“And this can be attested to by the triumphant reception and number of high-caliber dignitaries paying a visit to him to express their congratulations and present their heartfelt solidarity to him following his appointment.

Personalities like the former Deputy Governor of the State, Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, the Accountant General of the State, former and serving Local Government Area Chairmen, and former Permanent Secretaries, among others, have all been here, and this means there is something unique and touchy about him.

“I wish him well and God will continue to see him through, in good health, so as to be able to steer the affairs of the Ministry”, he began.

Wilson Bako, a former staff of the Nigerian Standard Newspaper but currently writes for the REALITY ONLINE, a news medium, in Jos, Plateau State, also commended the Ministry for feeding the public with constant and verifiable information.

“I must say the Permanent Secretary has been blessed with a very powerful Public Relations Unit that projects whatever he does to the world.

“Some of us have been in the media industry for donkey years, and whenever we see a good product, we can easily identify it.

I wish to say we read everything that comes out of this Ministry through the Information Unit every day, and I can say, without any iota of argument, that this is the only Ministry in the State that keeps the audience abreast with happenings in the Organisation.

“This is even more evident in the fact that it takes a man that values publicity and knows the value of proper information dissemination to maintain this status.

“I commend my friend, the Permanent Secretary, the powerful Information Unit, and the entire Ministry for being transparent in all your dealings, and I do hope that others will pick up from what you are doing.”

The Permanent Secretary, in his reaction, acknowledged the veteran journalist, describing his visit as heartwarming, having crossed paths with him at various fora.

He extolled the sterling qualities of the former Zonal Vice President of the NUJ and how he used his avalanche of experience to add value to the profession, assuring of keeping the line of communication that exists between them open for the general good of humanity and society.
