Former Flying Eagles Player Wins First Game As New Coach Of NNL Side

Babajide Oguntuase, Joy Cometh New Head Coach

First game and first Victor it was for a very happy new coach of Joy Cometh, Babajide Oguntuase who guided the team to a 1-0 victory over One Rocket FC in Agege Stadium.

“I feel very happy. The match was very tense and the referee wasn’t so right. I’m however still grateful for the goal and the goalscorer as even he didn’t expect to score that kind of goal,” Jide said.

The win sees the team leap out of the relegation waters for a while currently with 19pts from 16 games as they have lost 8, drawn 4, and won 4 but the coach explains that he will work on the team to get better results.

“One of the problems they had is fitness. They are not fit and I’m going to work on that from the next training before we travel for the next game. They are very skilled and good players as well,” Jide said.

Speaking on his target for the team, coach Jide said “right now, I’m focused on getting them out of relegation then at the end of the season, we’ll sit down and plan for the next season which we have to gain promotion.”

Jide Oguntuase was a player for Nigeria who featured in Scotland 99′, played for the Flying Eagles and then The All African Games before picking up an injury that kept him out for 9years before he returned for a very short playing spell and switched to coaching.
