Ex-Flying Eagles midfielder Nicolas Jonathan has praised Nigeria’s U-20 squad for securing their place at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, following their hard-fought victory over defending champions Senegal.

> “I’m really happy for the boys, for the job well done. One thing I noticed about them is that they were determined to play the game, and they really wanted World Cup tickets,” he said.

Jonathan believes that qualification will ease the team’s mental burden and enable them to perform with greater freedom as they chase the U-20 AFCON trophy.

> “I believe now they can just play without pressure and bring the trophy home.”

The Flying Eagles will next focus on the U-20 AFCON semi-finals, aiming not only for continental glory but also to build momentum ahead of next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
