‘Follow The Rules’ Udi Blasts NFF Appeal — Insists Congo Case Must Be Judged Strictly By FIFA Laws

Former Nigeria international Duke Udi has dismissed the Nigeria Football Federation’s appeal in the disputed case involving DR Congo, insisting that the matter must be judged strictly in line with FIFA regulations, and nothing else.

The controversy has sparked debate within football circles, with questions raised about eligibility issues and whether DR Congo breached any rules.

However, Udi believes the situation is straightforward: unless there is a clear violation of FIFA’s official regulations, there is no basis for sanctions.

“Everything must be judged by FIFA rules,” he stressed, rejecting arguments rooted in local interpretations or external claims.

Udi questioned whether DR Congo committed any infringement either on or off the pitch, emphasizing that speculation or unofficial complaints should not influence the outcome. According to him, only documented breaches within FIFA’s framework carry weight in such cases.

He further pointed out that issues like passport discrepancies or eligibility concerns — often raised in football disputes, are irrelevant unless they directly violate FIFA’s established criteria.

“If they met the requirements, then the result should stand,” he argued, reinforcing his belief in due process and regulatory clarity.

The former midfielder also suggested that FIFA’s track record speaks for itself. In situations where genuine violations occur, the governing body typically acts swiftly and decisively. The absence of such action, he implied, is a strong indication that no wrongdoing has been established.

His comments add to the growing discourse surrounding governance and fairness in international football, particularly when it comes to disputes involving match results and eligibility.

For Nigerian football authorities, the case represents a test of both legal strategy and interpretation of global football laws. But for Udi, the answer is simple, the rules are already clear.

As the situation continues to unfold, the focus will remain on whether any concrete evidence of a breach emerges.

Because in football, as Udi insists, opinions may differ, but the rules must always come first.
