Flying Eagles Will Attack With Our Fullest Impact Against Kenya – Zubairu

Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles’ coach, Aliyu Zubairu has revealed his game plan for Wednesday’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations’ last group match, and vowed that his players will attack to their fullest against Kenya, Sports247 reports.

While noting that his side remains the only team yet to concede a goal at the ongoing competition in Egypt, Zubairu also admitted that they have not done well in terms of scoring, having netted only once in two matches.

The soft-spoken tactician took another look at their goalless draw on Sunday with Group B leaders Morocco and acknowledged how the cautious approach adopted by his team prevented them from going into all-out attack.

Zubairu recalled, “We did not attack too much in the game because of the tactical approach we adopted for the match. The boys over-concentrated on our tactical plan to tackle the match, and they were too cautious of moving into attack.

“They misinterpreted the tactical description that was given to them. All the same, it was a good match and, at least, we came out with a draw, which is not a bad result.”

Zubairu, who is also the substantive head coach at El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), concluded with a pledge that his wards will step up their efforts in attack, as they seek to rain goals against Kenya on Wednesday.

“We are the only team that has not conceded a goal in the tournament. That means we are defending well; but we still need to come out of our shell. We have to use all our available opportunities to attack in its fullest. That is what we are going to do in the next match,” Zubairu assured.
