The fixture was confirmed following the conclusion of Group A matches on Thursday night, where Senegal emerged as group winners.

Defending champions Senegal kept their title defence alive with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over DR Congo in their final Group C match at the TotalEnergies CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Suez.

Nigeria, having finished second in Group B with five points, will now lock horns with one of the tournament’s early favorites in what promises to be a titanic knockout showdown.

The Flying Eagles, unbeaten in the group stage, arrived in Ismailia earlier in the week and have been fine-tuning preparations under the watchful eye of head coach Aliyu Zubairu.

The team remains focused and united in its quest to book a ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup by reaching the semifinals.

Team captain Daniel Bameyi, speaking ahead of the announcement, said: “We’ve come this far by staying disciplined and focused. Now that it’s Senegal, we know what’s at stake. It’s all about getting the job done and taking that next step.”

With both sides known for their physical intensity and tactical discipline, the quarterfinal is expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the tournament.
