Flying Eagles Midfielder Daniel Daga Delighted With First World Cup Win

Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has expressed his delight after Nigeria’s 3–2 victory over Saudi Arabia at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, describing the result as a product of teamwork and determination.

The win, which came after an opening day defeat to Norway, ensured that Nigeria remained in contention for a place in the knockout stages. For Daga, who plays his club football with Molde FC in Norway, the triumph was not only a boost to team morale but also a reminder of the collective effort required at such a high level of competition.

Speaking to reporters after the game, the young midfielder said the victory was a shared achievement between the players and the coaching staff.

“It was not about one player, it was about everybody,” Daga explained. “From the training ground to the match itself, the coaches guided us and the players gave everything. This victory is for the team and for the country.”

Daga admitted that the opening match loss to Norway had been a tough pill to swallow, but insisted that the setback only strengthened the squad’s resolve.

He revealed that the players met after that defeat and pledged to fight harder in the second game, a promise they delivered on against Saudi Arabia.

“We knew we couldn’t afford another bad result,” he said. “The focus was to fight for every ball and make sure Nigeria’s flag was flying high.”

Looking ahead, Daga stressed that the team’s focus has now shifted to their final group match against Colombia, a game that could decide their fate in the tournament. He urged his teammates to maintain the same spirit that earned them their first win. “We are not done yet. We will keep working hard because we want to make Nigeria proud,” he concluded with determination.
