Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles’ captain, Daniel Bameyi has set high targets for the squad ahead of the impending FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile and acknowledged that it’s a great privilege for them all to play for the country.
Sports247 gathered that the squad on Thursday arrived in the Chilean city of Talca, where they will battle Norway in their first group match on Monday, and Bameyi hinted that nothing but victory is on his mind as well as all his teammates.

As the countdown gets tighter towards the game at Estadio Fiscal de Talca, Bameyi took a look back at the team’s build-up activities for the competition and affirmed that they gained a lot from all the friendly matches that they played.
As Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side settle down into life at their base camp inside Hotel Diego de Almagro in Talca, Bameyi added: “We are happy. It’s a big privilege to represent the country and wear the green-white-green jersey.
“It’s a great opportunity to play and prepare ourselves. Now, we want to prove ourselves and show the world what we can do. By God’s grace, we will do the country proud.”
Sports247 reports that Zubairu’s side will enter the competition on a high, as they defeated Australia 3-1 in their last build-up match on Wednesday, after playing a 1-1 draw with the host nation, Chile on Monday.
Subsequently, after starting group play against Norway at the start of next week, Bameyi and his pals will line out at the same venue versus Saudi Arabia on Thursday and then play Colombia in their last first round game on Sunday
