Florent Ibenge Targets CAF Confederation Cup Glory With Azam FC

Dar es Salaam – Azam FC head coach, Florent Ibenge, has declared his ambition to lead the Tanzanian giants deep into the CAF Confederation Cup this season, expressing full confidence in his team’s quality and preparation.

The experienced Congolese tactician, who guided Morocco’s RS Berkane to the Confederation Cup title in 2022, said he is unfazed by the tough draw that places Azam alongside African heavyweights Wydad Casablanca in the group stage.

“We are with Wydad Casablanca, but that does not scare me,” Ibenge said. “My determination is to see Azam go far in international competitions and win domestic titles. We have a strong squad capable of competing with the best.”

Ibenge, who previously took Al Hilal of Sudan to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, believes Azam’s squad has been strategically built for continental success this season.

“This team has grown stronger and more balanced,” he added. “We have invested in experience and talent, and I believe nothing will be impossible for us this campaign.”

With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of African football, Ibenge has called on the club’s management and supporters to stay patient and believe in the project, promising that the fruits of their investment will soon be evident.

“The fans and management should get ready to see results. The work being done will soon bring success,” he assured.

Since its establishment in 2007, Azam FC has yet to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup — a record Ibenge is determined to change as he leads the Chamazi Millionaires on a quest for continental glory
