Flamingos’ Coach Bankole Olowookere Reveals: Why I Want To Win U17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s female cadet national team, Flamingos’ coach, Bankole Olowookere has confessed that he has a burning ambition to win this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco in order to make history for the country, Sports247 reports.

Though his team has been zoned alongside Canada, France and Samoa in what appears to be a tough group for the competition scheduled to be held in October, Olowookere declared that his eyes are already fixed on the trophy.

The amiable tactician admitted further that winning the global trophy will surely come with a lot of effort from everyone in the team, which he believes they have already set in motion with adequate preparations ignited for the forthcoming championship.

Olowookere disclosed, “The major thing for a successful competition is preparation. There is no other way to success than through good preparations. We know that, and that’s what we have embarked on.”

The ambitious gaffer then outlined some of the steps he is taking towards building a team that he believes would be strong enough to help him achieve his desire to win the global contest.

He disclosed, “At the sports festival, we were able to detect some new players that, with proper grooming and training, few of them can make it through the national team.

“So, we are not limiting our efforts. We are also moving around to see what we can get across the country. The preparation has started already. Even before the draw took place, we had already started working hard. “

He concluded by recollecting how the Flamingos finished third in 2022 and reckoned that they can go one step further this time by winning the trophy for his personal reputation, the pride of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and glory for the country.

“The girls have done it before, and I now want to make history for Nigeria. My girls want to make history and the technical crew too. In fact, I want to be part of the success story of this present administration of the Nigerian Football Federation.

“I believe it would be a thing of joy for the whole of Nigeria if the girls can win the cup. That would bring glory and pride back to Nigeria … and that’s what we are working on,” Olowookere assured.
