FIVB’s Technical Support Can Aid Further Development Of Volleyball In Nigeria – Olopade

The director-general of Nigeria’s National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade has enthused that incoming technical support from the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) will further aid development of the game in the country.

Sports247 reports that Olopade gave the optimistic projection while providing details of a meeting he held with top officials of FIVB on the sidelines of the ongoing Youth Summer Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.

Olopade, who attended the meeting along with leaders of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), declared further that the talks have given the country a major breakthrough for accelarated development of volleyball, as the world governing body gave a firm commitment to provide comprehensive technical support, funding and coaching expertise.

He further pointed out that FIVB’s support will help Nigeria fast-track the growth of volleyball played on the beach as well as activities on outdoor and indoor courts all over Nigeria, encompassing grassroots participation, talent identification, elite performance, coaching education, refereeing, structures and competitions.

While noting Nigeria’s historic qualification for beach volleyball at the 2028 Olympic Games, Olopade expressed profound appreciation to FIVB for recognizing the country as a leading force and one of the fastest growing nations in the game of spikers.

“It gladdens my heart to know that international volleyball has seen Nigeria as one of the greatest in the game. They have offered technical support, funding, coaching and other resources that can aid the development of volleyball in Nigeria.

“Recall that Nigeria has qualified for the Olympics in Los Angeles and we will keep discovering talent. We will not relent in our efforts,” Olopade assured, while further promising FIVB a robust, transparent, and long-term relationship.

Sports247 reports further that the NSC’s ‘DG’ reiterated that the new partnership is already anchored on accountability, excellence and shared development goals, as the Commission is committed to providing institutional support required to deliver results for athletes, coaches and all volleyball stakeholders.
