FIRST CAREER HAT-TRICK EXCITES EFFIONG

…dedicates goals to daughter

Akwa United Forward Ndifreke Effiong says he is excited to have scored the first hat-trick of his professional career on Sunday when he helped his team to a 4-0 demolition of Adamawa United on NPFL Matchday 7 at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium.

Effiong netted three times for the Promise Keepers, twice in the first half, coming in the 6th and 18th minute before completing his hat-trick in the second half with a stunning strike to secure his team’s first win of the season.

“It’s a thing of joy for me to have scored the first hat-trick of my career. I’m really excited because the three goals actually helped my team to achieve what we wanted which is the three points we got at the end of the match.

“I really thank God for the grace and strength He has given me. I have this belief that this season will be a special one for me and Akwa United. I have been scoring goals, I have scored brace in many matches but this is my first time of scoring a hat-trick, and it gives me more reasons to believe more in my abilities.

Effiong showered praises on his coaches and teammates and dedicated his hat-trick to his little daughter, Hanna who was born on the 1st of December.

“I wish to thank all my teammates, the coaches and the fans for their support to me and the team. I wish to most sincerely thank the Chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey for his words of encouragement to me and the entire team. I want to assure everyone that I will continue to work hard to ensure I score more goals for Akwa United this season. There is no better way to celebrate my goals than to dedicate them to my lovely daughter Hanna”. said the striker.

The national U-23 Forward scored six league goals for Akwa United last season and has so far netted four times this season (1 against Nasarawa United and 3 against Adamawa United).
