The match is scheduled for 4:00 PM local time (5:00 PM GMT+2) at the Prince Abdallah Al Faisal Sports Hall and marks First Bank’s opening game in the elite continental competition.

The tournament officially began on Friday, with KPA of Kenya defeating FAP of Cameroon 84–64 in Group B, while hosts Al Ahly outclassed FBA of Côte d’Ivoire 91–62 in a Group A fixture.

Head-to-Head History

First Bank and Ferroviario Maputo share a competitive history in African women’s club basketball.

The Mozambican side holds the advantage in past meetings, winning four of their last five encounters.

Their most recent clash was in 2018 during the FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup semi-finals, where Ferroviario triumphed 72–59.

Looking Ahead

As First Bank returns to the continental stage, they aim to improve their record against the Maputo giants and set a strong tone for the rest of their WBLA campaign.

With a mix of experience and youth, the Nigerian champions will hope to navigate a tough Group B and push for a deep run in the tournament.

This year’s WBLA features 12 teams, grouped into three pools of four, with clubs battling for supremacy and a spot in the knockout stages.
