Former Nigerian international Theresa Mac-Dangosu has urged D’Tigress to stay focused and finish strongly in their final game against Germany, despite already securing qualification for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Mac-Dangosu said the last match remains important, not just for placement in the tournament, but also for the momentum and confidence the team can carry into the World Cup itself.

“They have to focus on finishing strongly against Germany,” Mac-Dangosu said.
According to her, every team in the competition is improving, which means Nigeria cannot afford to relax even after booking their place at the World Cup.
She stressed that the final game offers another chance for the team to sharpen its play against high-level opposition.
“The game is important for placement and momentum heading into the World Cup,” she added.
Mac-Dangosu highlighted Nigeria’s defensive strength as one of the key weapons that can help the team compete successfully against stronger opponents.
She also pointed to the need for energy and intensity from players such as Ifunaya Okoro, noting that D’Tigress are usually at their best when they defend aggressively and play with pace.
“Nigeria’s strength is still in their defense and energy,” she said.
The former player further explained that the team’s style is driven largely by the guards, making it important for them to control the tempo and execute well in crucial moments.
For Mac-Dangosu, ending the qualifiers with a strong showing would be the ideal way for Nigeria to round off the tournament and prepare mentally for the bigger challenge ahead.
