Finidi Joins Super Eagles Camp Ahead Of Clash With Sierra Leone

Super Eagles received a significant boost in their preparations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations’ qualifier against Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars. Assistant coach Finidi George, who recently led Enyimba FC to victory in the NPFL Super Six competition, rejoined the team.

Finidi was seen working with head coach Jose Peseiro as the team intensified their training
sessions ahead of the crucial match in Monrovia.

In a bid to enhance their preparations, the Super Eagles are considering traveling to the
Liberian capital on a chartered flight early on Saturday morning. The team kicked off their
training sessions on Monday with 21 players who arrived promptly at the Eko Hotel and
Suites camp, fully committed to the mission of defeating the Leone Stars.

During the first training session, head coach Jose Peseiro granted a rest to Ebube Duru and Divine Nwachukwu, who had played in all five games for Rivers United and Bendel
Insurance at the recently concluded NPL Super Six playoffs.

However, the duo joined the training session on Tuesday, showing their dedication to the team’s cause.

Notably, Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal displayed impressive skills and form during yesterday’s training session, raising hopes for a strong performance in the upcoming match.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face the Leone Stars on Sunday in the fifth matchday of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

This encounter will take place at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia. With the
return of assistant coach George Finidi and the commitment shown by the players, the
Nigerian team appears to be in high spirits and well-prepared for the crucial showdown.

Super Eagles aim to secure victory against the Leone Stars to maintain their position at the top of the qualifying group.

A positive result in this match would bring them closer to qualifying for the prestigious African Cup of Nations tournament. The team’s fans eagerly await the outcome, hoping for a remarkable performance from their beloved Super Eagles.
