All hope held by Nigerian-born defender, Fikayo Tomori for a summer transfer to Newcastle United of England have been stalled by a fixed price tag of €20m placed on his signature by AC Milan of Italy, where the dark-skinned centre back has spent six years already.
Sports247 reports that the once-vibrant 28-year-old defender, who was born in Canada but grew up in England and whose full name is Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori, had been hoping on making a return to the English Premier League this season.
However, the former Chelsea, Brighton, Hull City and Derby County stopper has found his intial hope for a smooth summer transfer up against a brickwall, though updated information indicates that Newcastle are ready to step up talks with Milan for the dark-skinned defender.
Although they already had an offer of €15m rejected for the former England international, The Magpies are not giving up and Eddie Howe’s side are reportedly angling for a second try at hooking Tomori, who was part of Chelsea’s side that won the UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup in 2015 and 2016.
A report by MilanNews24 added, “The 28-year-old joined AC Milan from his boyhood club, Chelsea back in January 2020, and has been a key player ever since, making 216 appearances across all competitions.
“A return to the Premier League could be on the cards for Tomori, with Newcastle set to step up talks. AC Milan are holding out for a fee of €20m, including bonuses and there is growing belief that a deal will be struck.”
