Fikayo Tomori Enters Newcastle United’s Summer Transfer Radar, As His AC Milan Contract Runs Out

AC Milan’s Nigerian-born central defender, Fikayo Tomori, could be on his way back to England next summer, with an offer from Newcastle United reportedly waiting for him to accept.

Sports247 gathered that the 28-year-old Tomori, who made his mark in England with Chelsea, Brighton, Hull City and Derby County before moving to Milan in 2021, is already surplus to requirements at The San Siro.

However, while The Rossoneri are ready to let him leave as a free agent when his current contract expires at the end of this season, an immediate fallback option appears to be on the table at Newcastle.

Tomori, who was born in Calgary, Canada, to Nigerian parents but grew up in England, where he became a full senior international, is said to be weighing all options available to him, especially with heavy signs of growing irrelevance for him in Milan.

“The 28-year-old joined the Serie A giants on a permanent deal from Chelsea in 2023, and has over 200 appearances, but he is not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans at the San Siro so far this season.

“He’s been recalled to the first team, following a long-term injury for Matteo Gabbia, but Amorim is unmoved over the England international, who is set to return to the Premier League as a free agent.

“Newcastle United are rumoured to be the front runners to complete a deal for him, but other English clubs could offer a rival contract package,” Tribal Football revealed.

Sports247 reports further that moving to Tyneside would make Tomori the latest player of Nigerian descent to join The Magpies – after Shola Ameobi, Celestine Babayaro and Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins.
