Nigeria’s youth national team, Falconets are facing a challenge of having to settle down fast after relocating from the venue of their first two matches at the 2026 FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup in Poland.
Sports247 gathered that the squad had to quickly start the process of relocation immediately after battling to a goalless draw with China PR on Thursday, as they will face New Coledonia in a different city.
The Falconets’ next game is in the Polish city of Lodz, which is several kilomoetres away from where they played against Spain and China at Arena Sosnowiec; meaning Coach Moses Aduku’s side have to quickly relocate to prepare for their final group match.
Considering that the Falconets started their campaign with a 2-0 loss to Spain, followed by Thursday’s draw with China, Aduku’s squad will need a strong performance on Sunday at Stadion Miejski ŁKS in Łódź to secure all three points.
Officially known as Władysław Król Municipal Stadium, the multi-purpose sports arena located at 2 Unii Lubelskiej Avenue in Łódź is managed by the department of culture and sport, with home league football matches played there by ŁKS Łódź FC.
The arena, where Aduku’s team needs to defeat New Caledonia in order to secure progression into the knockout stages, has a capacity of 18,029 seats, but the original stadium, which had grandstands and standing areas, hosted a maximum crowd of 45,000 on August 21, 1971.
A statement by the communications department of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) added, “Coach Aduku’s team will now turn their focus to their final group match against New Caledonia on Sunday in Lódź as they fight to secure a place in the knockout rounds.”
