FIFA U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles dent huge blow ahead of Ukraine clash

The Nigeria U-20 side has been dent a huge blow ahead of their group deciding match against Ukraine on Thursday, Sports247 report.

 

The Flying Eagles who lost 2-0 in their second group game to the USA after beating Qatar 4-0 in their first will be without Kano Pillars midfielder Jamil Muhammad for the rest of the competition.

The combative midfielder who had to play through pain in the defeat to the USA on Monday because manager Paul Aigbogun had exhausted his substitutes would watch the rest of the tournament from the treatment room.

Muhammad isn’t the only injury concern for Nigeria ahead of the crucial encounter, as a right-back, Rabiu Muhammad and Enyimba defender Valentine Ozornwafor are struggling with the knocks they picked up against the Americans.

Although both defenders took part in Tuesday and Wednesday’s training without any concern, they would be accessed by the medical team to confirm their fitness.

Nigeria who will face Ukraine on Thursday at the Stadion Miejski (Bielsko-Biała) are second on the log with 3 points. They have a goal difference of +2 and need to beat Ukraine to progress to the next round.
