FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan: NFF expecting fund from FIFA, CAF, others – Pinnick

The Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick has revealed that the body is still expecting monies from FIFA and CAF respectively following the federation’s plan to allocate funds for clubs as FIFA releases Members Association Relief Grant (1st installment: USD 500,000 in July 2020: 2nd installment: USD 500,000 in January 2021).

The Federation will provide support for Clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League, Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women Football League and the Nigeria Nationwide League for next season’s football campaign, as a result of challenges that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic, Pinnick reinstated.

During a live session on NFF’s official Instagram page on Thursday, Pinnick said the NFF is at the moment expecting a total sum of $1million from world football-governing body, FIFA, and another $500,000 from the African confederation, CAF. “We would take from these various monies and add also from monies that we are expecting from our corporate partners, and see what we can give to each of the Clubs in these four cadres.

“This financial support is for them to get their campaigns off the ground for the new season that we have set for September/October, depending on what signals we get from the Federal Government, through the Presidential Task Force on the COVID-19 and other relevant organs. We are also going to support the league organizing bodies financially.” Although he added that the football body has written to the Government to also support the cause, he admitted that the Government is presently burdened by so many challenges wrought by the COVID-19 and it could be a tall order.

According to FIFA, for the first installment (to be paid in July 2020), Mas will be required to submit an application form, containing all relevant terms and containing all relevant terms and conditions, to the FIFA administrator for review and approval. This will include written confirmation of their agreement with the applicable regulations and additional terms and conditions.

For the second installment (to be paid in January 2021), the application form that has to be submitted to the FIFA administration for review and approval will have to be accompanied by a report on the use of the first installment and the MA Women’s Football COVID-19 Relief Grant (as outlined), subject to which the second installment will be released.
