FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup: China Overpowers Nigeria to Secure 11th Place Finish, Revenges Opening Day Loss

China wrapped up their campaign at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup on a high note, cruising past Nigeria 96–71 in the 11th-place classification game at the Starez Arena Vodova Hall 2 in Brno, Czechia.

After suffering a defeat to Nigeria on the opening day of the tournament, China came into the rematch with intent and intensity, dominating from the outset.

They raced to a 26–14 lead in the first quarter and extended their advantage to 56–35 by halftime, thanks to clinical execution on both ends of the floor.

Despite a more resilient second-half showing from Nigeria, the early damage proved insurmountable as China maintained control to avenge their earlier loss and seal the victory.

Key Performers:

Kejia Ran led the charge for China, posting a game-high efficiency rating of 28 and delivering across multiple statistical categories.

Idubamo Beggi stood out for Nigeria, finishing with a team-best 18 points and showcasing flashes of her scoring prowess.

China shot an impressive 48% from the field, significantly outperforming Nigeria’s 30% shooting.

The Chinese side also dominated in rebounding and ball distribution, while both teams shot above 70% from the free-throw line.

China never trailed throughout the game, leading for nearly 39 minutes and building their largest margin to 30 points at one stage.

With this result, China finishes the in 11th place, while Nigeria concludes their spirited run in 12th in the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Both teams exit the global stage having gained valuable experience and exposure for their rising talents.
